White Shirt Redux
The white button-up is a classic and will never go out of style, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be reworked every now and then. This spring, expect to see new takes on this staple—such as Victorianera-inspired high collars and ruffles, and tucks and asymmetrical necklines. Some of the options are fun and fashion-forward, but not every version is work-appropriate. Exercise caution if working this update into your Monday-through-Friday wardrobe rotation.
Gingham Style
Nothing says warm weather quite like gingham, except that this season, designers said “supersize” it! Bold gingham prints are back this year in a big way. It is being incorporated with brighter colors and even floral patterns for more contrast and versatility.
’70s Throwback
The 1970s continue to be a source of inspiration, with both denim and suede being the fabrics of choice. Who doesn’t love denim? It has reigned as a staple the past few springs, and 2016 looks to be no exception. “Head to toe denim” is in the forecast. Think lightweight and chic, not acid wash (scary). Suede is a popular fabric for the new handbag trend—the half-moon bag.
Fancy Footwork
The love affair with mules continues this season and for good reason. They are both comfortable and versatile, remaining the shoe of choice for spring and summer.
