American soprano Jasmine Habersham makes her Seattle Opera debut virtually in a free-to-the-public recital. Ms. Habersham’s “expansive, clarion voice” (The Atlanta Journal-Consitution) can be enjoyed not only in solo recital, but also as Zerlina in our upcoming production of Don Giovanni. We are excited to welcome this versatile and dynamic performer to the virtual stage for a program of beauty and whimsy with selections including the famous “Silver Aria” from The Ballad of Baby Doe, the cycle of five kid songs “I Hate Music!” by Leonard Bernstein, and more.

Utterly enjoyable from first sip to last, this fizzy concoction is opera’s most winning comedy. A love-struck bumpkin is about to lose the company of a rich and independent landowner. Crossing paths with a quack doctor, he’s duped in more ways than one. Wine, a windfall, and a fateful furtive tear eventually reveal happy truths as sincerity triumphs amid much rejoicing. Madison Leonard, Michael Adams, Patrick Carfizzi, and Tess Altiveros are joined by pianists and solo musicians in a staging by David Gately designed especially for online streaming. Our online stream of  The Elixir of Love is on sale now to the public for $35 per stream. Once you have purchased your stream you will be able to access this opera February 12–14 through your Seattle Opera account. Proceeds from individual streaming operas benefit artists, musicians, and crew via union funds, including the AGMA Artists Relief Fund. We are grateful to all of our union partners for their creativity and enthusiasm to put these operas on stage.
