Back in 1984 when Ron and Pat Bode began their new venture in private in-home healthcare, they recognized how many older adults desperately wanted to stay in their own homes as they aged. Now operated with the help of the Bode’s two daughters, Lyness Stone and Sharla Bode, Advanced Health Care has three locations in the Puget Sound including Puyallup and Olympia. Growing up in the Puyallup area, the daughters became involved in the family business at a young age and learned what it takes to earn a reputation for providing excellent care.
According to Stone, VP of Marketing & Recruiting, “We are unique in the space because Advanced Health Care is licensed with the Department of Health and provides not only companionship care, but we have the skilled nurses to provide complex acute care as well.” Through on-going RN supervision, patients receive the best possible care meeting Washington State’s requirements, not always found in national corporations that operate in their market.
Advanced Health Care offers some of the most tenured caregivers in the area and some employees have worked with them for as long as 28 years. “Our in-home caregivers are the backbone of our organization, and we have a great reputation because of them,” said Stone. “Our caregivers ensure patients receive the care they have earned and deserve while allowing them to be their own person.”
Operating as an independent business is a bit novel in their culture of big, national corporations in the medical field. This family-owned business that puts its patient’s needs before profit is the secret sauce of Advanced Health Care’s 40-year success story.
