Duo Takinai: Intimate and organic, weaving a rich tapestry of world folk music with the soulful melodies and stories of East Asia, the Andes, and Sephardic traditions.
Takinai is a mix of two words, the Quechua (Bolivian indigenous language) word “Takina” meaning “music”, and the Chinese word “ai 爱” meaning “love.” Joined by the love for music, Duo Takinai (Ke and Reynaldo) interprets traditional and contemporary repertoire from Latin America, Eastern Mediterranean, and East Asia. From their own distinct cultural heritages and musical backgrounds, the two multi-instrumentalists employ a wide variety of instruments such as the Andean and Asian wind instruments, world percussions, guitar, harp, piano, and more.
Live at The Eleanor: a new series at Tacoma Armory. Offering an intimate, candlelit lounge experience with performances across genres—from music to poetry to dance—accompanied by craft beverages and light concessions. Every Friday and Saturday evening in the historic Eleanor Room.
