Each movement of Mussorgsky’s masterpiece, Pictures at an Exhibition, was inspired by a piece of artwork by Viktor Hartmann, including hatching chicks, children at play, Baba Yaga’s hut, and more.
Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun opens the concert, casting its spell of warm sunshine and half-remembered dreams.
