Scholarly Selections: Dr. Nettie Craig Asberry Home: Past, Present & Future
March 21, 6 – 7:30pm
Few people made as important an impact on Tacoma’s history as Dr. Nettie Craig Asberry, the social activist and educator who is the earliest known Black woman to earn a Ph.D. In 2022, Dr. Asberry’s Hilltop home was added to the National Register of Historic Places and was purchased by the Tacoma City Association of Colored Women’s Clubs (Tacoma CWC) in partnership with Forterra NW.
Scholarly Selections is a series of free, informal talks organized by the University of Washington Tacoma and held at the History Museum. Hear from UWT professors, graduate students, and researchers about the interesting topics they’re exploring.
