Join the Tacoma Art Museum for our New Exhibitition Kent Monkman: Death of Adonis and the companion installation titled Visions of the West: Grafton Tyler Brown.
Kent Monkman’s work reveals how images of the American West have obscured the realities of colonial expansion and ecological destruction. Through scale, theatrical composition and a reworking of 19th century tropes. Monkaman reclaims the visual language of European and American painting and redirects it toward a critical retelling of history.
Visions of the West: Grafton Tyler Brown features two major landscape paintings and in-depth exploration of the artist’s life and career.
