Something for Everyone!
Our South Sound theater community is back in full swing with a long list of fall theater offerings this season. With everything from comedy to heart-touching dramas, this season has something for everyone.
Olympia’s Harlequin Productions kicks off the fall season with a musical award winner, starting out with Fun Home which is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes. When her father dies unexpectedly, graphic novelist Alison dives deep into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life.
Tacoma Arts Live regional theater will present an evening with Lyle Lovett. Two of America’s most prolific songwriters of any generation — Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt — return to Tacoma to share their unique blend of musical artistry. Both performers deliver songs that speak to your core with lyrics filled with equal parts joy and pain.
We all need a bit of laughter and this fall the Washington Center for the Performing Arts hosts ten comedians in a comedy face-off in the hugely popular Seattle International Comedy Competition. The judges decide who moves on based on the audience responses. This is an epic skirmish of punch lines and comedic timing on their main-stage and there is no telling what to expect.
Finally, Tacoma’s treasure, the Tacoma Little Theatre brings us Murder on the Orient Express. Board the exotic and mysterious Orient Express as it takes off into the opulence and grandeur of the 1930s. Join Poirot as he battles the clock to figure out “whodunit” in this sleek, stylish, and surprisingly comedic murder mystery.
