After a long pandemic intermission, the Gig Harbor Film Festival (GHFF) is excited to be back for a four-day run on September 22-25, 2022! The Galaxy Theatres in Uptown Gig Harbor will be showcasing this world-class film festival experience for local and visiting film buffs.
Kicking off with Opening Night on Thursday, the curtain will rise on nearly 65 curated films submitted from around the world. With a blend of independent films, feature length and shorts, foreign films and documentaries, there is something for everyone. Of special interest to South Sound residents are fascinating documentaries about Galloping Gertie (700 Feet Down) and Shenandoah, which highlights the historic fishing boat being restored in Gig Harbor.
Consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals in the world by FilmFreeway, the GHFF is able to draw talented indie filmmakers from around the world. After many of the film showings, there is a Q&A session with the director and sometimes the producers and actors themselves.
There are two options for film lovers to attend the Gig Harbor Film Festival:
- VIP Passes include full access to all films, priority seating, private parties and events, and the well-stocked VIP lounge.
- General admission tickets will be available in August and include full access to all films over the entire festival. And all films are shown twice so nobody misses out!
Leading up to the festival, the GHFF is also hosting Monday Movie Night at 6:30pm on the last Monday of each month at the Galaxy Theatres. (Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office through the Galaxy.)
Whether it’s a one-night showing on Monday or the four-day festival, the Gig Harbor Film Festival is all about cultivating a sense of community for film fans who love to come together to experience stories in their most pure and undiluted form.
