Since 2007, film lovers from around the world have discovered what so many locals know. Gig Harbor is a beautiful place to visit and also host to a film festival known as a ‘Filmmaker’s Film Festival’. The 2025 Gig Harbor Film Festival will be held September 25-28 with all screenings occurring at the state-of-the-art Galaxy
Theatres in Uptown Gig Harbor.
Headlining the 2025 lineup will be Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, presented at the opening night celebration to include a Q&A session with Bob Mackie. The film celebrates his six-decade career of famously creating costume designs for Cher, Diana Ross, Elton John and many more entertainers. Known for his elaborate, sequined gowns, Mackie, now 86, was the in-house costume designer for The Carol Burnett Show where he produced more than 70 looks per week for Burnett and
her guests.
“We are beyond thrilled to host the iconic Bob Mackie and his team on Opening Night!” said Pamela Holt, Executive Director of the Gig Harbor Film Festival. In the following three days of lively parties, screenings and interactions with filmmakers, attendees can view up to 85 films organized in blocks. A block may include a feature-length film or a collection of up to eight short films grouped by a common theme in a variety of genres. Each block is presented twice to allow film aficionados the opportunity to see as many films as possible.
“This event is very convenient and relaxing because it all takes place in one location,” said Holt. Uptown Gig Harbor offers what many other film festivals cannot with the theatre and excellent restaurants nearby to host parties, plus free parking, all within one property.
The local vibe of the 2025 festival will be elevated with the screening of Gunslingers, co-starring Gig Harbor resident Jeremy Kent Jackson. Owner of Actorcraft p2s, an acting school founded by professional actors and educators in Gig Harbor, Jackson plays the villain in this 2025 movie opposite Oscar-winning actor Nicholas Cage, Heather Graham and Stephen Dorff also featured.
