It’s the best of all worlds for Larry Nelson and Sheryl Beck Nelson who call Harbor Heights their home. The residential community in the heart of Olympia’s Market District offers an upscale, energizing lifestyle. After selling their house in Lacey, Sheryl and Larry traveled extensively. Returning to Olympia meant staying in a hotel or Airbnb. They traded the contents of their carry-on suitcases from a storage unit, which became tiring.
The couple desired a more permanent home, and they wanted it on the water. It was also important to have a place that could be easily secured when they were away. To their delight, Harbor Heights surpassed their wish list.
“We lucked out and didn’t have to choose,” says Larry. After two and a half years, Sheryl and Larry have created a comfortable home within an environment where they have cultivated new friends, participate in on-site activities, and continue to utilize the many benefits of living downtown. They don’t worry about their home when they travel.
The third floor of Harbor Heights features an expansive deck with multiple seating areas, fire pits and fabulous views. “We use the 3rd floor a lot. It’s fantastic. In the summer we may go out and read or have a glass of wine with friends,” says Sheryl. “I’ve started using the gym,” she adds. There are regular movies in the theater room. Larry frequents the morning coffee group for stimulating conversations. “The biggest thing for me is the community. There are so many groups and things to do,” says Larry.
Harbor Heights offers studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units. The amenities are impressive with rooms for gaming, crafting, and meeting. There’s secure, undercover parking, bike racks, and easy to schedule maintenance and housekeeping. Management is on-site. The building is pet friendly.
The walkable neighborhood includes parks, The Olympia Farmers Market, and the Olympia Community Center. Sheryl and Larry have found such a variety of eateries that their personal rule is choosing to walk to dinner. The downtown is host to local businesses where one can find groceries, personal care, coffee, art, and more than you probably imagine.
Harbor Heights is home for people in a wide range of interests, backgrounds and experiences. To learn more about Harbor Heights or schedule a tour, visit the website at 55+ Community in Olympia, WA | Harbor Heights or call 360.227.6800.
