Lacey MakerSpace is thrilled to announce the launch of two scholarship opportunities, made possible through the generous support of the City of Olympia and the City of Lacey. These scholarships offer a free 12-month membership to Lacey MakerSpace (a $660 value) for residents of either Olympia or Lacey who demonstrate financial need and a passion for creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning.
These scholarships aim to remove financial barriers and provide access to equipment and training, as well as a welcoming community of makers, artists, and innovators. Whether you’re eager to learn new hands-on skills, want to develop a product, or exploring a business idea, this is a chance to take the next step in your creative or entrepreneurial journey.
We are deeply grateful to the City of Lacey and the City of Olympia for making these opportunities possible through their ongoing investment in innovation, education, and access to creative tools and training.
- Olympia Scholarship: Open to Olympia residents who have not held an active Lacey MakerSpace membership in the past 12 months. Funded by the City of Olympia and Olympia City Council. Olympia Residents Apply Here
- Lacey Scholarship: Open to Lacey residents who have not held an active membership in the past 12 months. Supported by the City of Lacey. Lacey Residents Apply Here
Applicants at all stages—curious beginners, artists, inventors, or small business owners—are encouraged to apply. Each application asks about your interests, goals, and how a MakerSpace membership can support your growth. We recognize that financial need can take many forms and encourage all who are interested to apply.
We’re committed to growing scholarship and workforce development opportunities and are always eager to collaborate with local partners and municipalities who share a vision for empowering their communities and strengthening our region together.
Lacey MakerSpace, located on the Saint Martin’s University campus, is a fully equipped community workshop that offers tools and training in woodworking, 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, metal fabrication, and more. It is a collaborative project of the City of Lacey, Saint Martin’s University, and the Thurston EDC’s Center for Business & Innovation.
