Since 1970, Rolf’s Import Auto Service has been providing automotive care in the South Sound. Founded by Rolf Simons, a German immigrant, the company began as a small shop providing general services. “We have been a part of the community for a long time,” says Mark Simons, current owner and son of the founder. Having taken over the business from his father in 2006, the younger Simons is focusing on growth and community outreach. He says that Rolf’s continues to provide the same level of care to its customers as it always has, specializing in the repair and maintenance of imports such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, with locations in Fife and Lakewood.
Rolf’s offers a rewards card program to loyal customers with benefits that include a benefit to local organizations. Each time customers use their card, they earn dollars toward future services, a portion of which can also be donated to one of many local nonprofits supported by Rolf’s. These include Boys and Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound, YWCA Pierce County, FISH Food Banks, and the Cascade Animal Protection Society. Simons notes that word of mouth was an important part of building the company before social media and more traditional marketing approaches, so now he gives back to the community that helped the business flourish.
Rolf’s is giving back through additional outreach programs as well. Each month one local organization is selected to be the Charity of the Month, and for each online appointment scheduled, Rolf’s donates $5. Customers are also welcome to request that the donation be sent to other nonprofits the company supports.
With a strong sense of community and a proud family legacy, Rolf’s plans to continue to grow and have a lasting impact on the South Sound.
