For more than 78 years, Symphony Tacoma has inspired audiences with live musical experiences that go beyond the traditional. On November 23rd, Symphony Tacoma continues its vision of “building community through music” when it welcomes Tacoma native J’Nai Bridges to the Pantages Theater. This two-time Grammy award-winning performer, who has performed with the Metropolitan Opera and BET magazine named the “Beyonce’ of the Opera World,” returns home to the South Sound to perform at the Symphony Tacoma concert, “Passion & Intrigue.”
Audiences can look forward to Bridges’ phenomenal mezzo-soprano voice accompanied by the high-quality local musicians that make up the Symphony Tacoma. This special homecoming concert features four pieces that combine a dramatic fusion of fiery Spanish themes, exotic tales from the East, and powerful operatic themes, creating an evening of intense emotion and mesmerizing storytelling.
Jennifer Cargile, Marketing Manager of Symphony Tacoma, commented, “this concert is a great mix of music you know and don’t know, with really fun rhythms performed by our amazing symphony and a powerhouse vocalist.” Opening the concert is Puccini’s “Preludio Sinfonico,” a beautiful and expressive piece that shows off his early talent for creating memorable melodies. Bizet’s suites from his opera “Carmen” burst with Spanish flair, and vibrant, passionate, and dramatic storytelling of romance and intrigue. Mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges will blow audiences away with her exquisite vocal artistry, dynamic interpretations, and commanding stage presence.
“Symphony Tacoma is a gem in our community that everyone should experience,” said Cargile. “The amazing thing about a live performance is that you can never recreate it. The second you hear a note, that second is gone and never can be recaptured. It is something truly magical!”
Take advantage of this opportunity to see and hear J’Nai Bridges and Symphony Tacoma in the historic Pantages Theater.
