Mike Lyon loves his business, Tailored Living, partly because of the aspects that make it unique compared with his competition. An organizational specialist, he always works one-on-one with his customers, combining great products with smart design to bring maximum functionality, efficiency and beauty to the spaces so important to their daily existence. Their dreams of owning a well-organized garage, closet, home office or pantry come true with a higher level of satisfaction and at a lower cost, thanks to his approach.
“Right from the start to the finish of the project, the customer is in touch with me,” Lyon said in an interview. “I do the sales consultation. I also do the installation of the product. So nothing gets lost in the translation.”
In addition, Lyon brings technology to his in-home consultations to ensure the best possible communication and outcome. With an advanced computer program, he can create a three-dimensional image of the space as it would ultimately look, based on measurements and customer comments about use and products desired. They can see it all come to life.
The sense of caring and responsibility that Lyon demonstrates in Tailored Living extends beyond the business. He recycles everything he can, uses a local cabinet shop to avoid long-distance shipping, donates to schools, gives his time and materials to projects like a storage room for the USO at SeaTac Airport, and serves as a team captain for Relay for Life. The Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce named Tailored Living the “Best Home-Based Business” for 2012.
“I love working with customers and making their lives better by helping them to be organized in all different types of spaces in the home, whether it be the closet, pantry, home office or garage,” Lyon said. “I can take care of them.”
