If you are a lover of Mexican food, prepare to have your expectations exceeded. Agave Cocina and Cantina recently opened at Kent Station, bringing to the South Sound its unique atmosphere and cuisine made popular in Redmond. Founder Julian Ramos has been thrilled with the reception of local residents and shoppers to the new location. While Kent Station offers a range of dining options, it had lacked an authentic dine-in Mexican establishment. Now, he says, “our guests can enjoy Agave’s food and hand-picked sipping tequila selection in a strikingly distinctive setting.”
The menu is more than your average rice and bean platters. Agave boasts a fusion of cuisine from Mexico and Central and South America. All menu items are made from scratch with fresh ingredients, most locally sourced. Ramos uses organic and free-range meats whenever possible. Specialty cocktails are a happy hour favorite along with margaritas made from scratch using fresh fruit and lime combinations.
Options are abundant and Agave takes great care to cater to all dietary needs. Whether you prefer gluten free, vegetarian or vegan, there is no shortage of choices that will leave you feeling satisfied. Steering clear of preservatives is a high priority at Agave, and lard also is not used when preparing dishes.
The restaurant space mimics a rustic cantina with high ceilings and steel beams. Seating in both the bar and restaurant is ample along with two outdoor patios for use during the warmer months. Most of the décor throughout the space was acquired by Ramos from San Cayetano, Mexico, further adding to the restaurant’s authentic feel.
If you are looking to expand your palate beyond the flavors we think we know as south of the border, stop by Agave Cocina and Cantina and prepare to be amazed!
