Since its sparkling opening on New Year’s Eve, Altitude 15 has maintained its vision of creating an environment where people, families, and community organizations feel welcome, supported, and well-fed. The food hall and tap house reimagined the previously vacant, 9000-square-foot building in downtown Olympia. “The 100-year-old building is repurposed, vibrant, beautiful, and relevant,” says Cher Hobbick, chef and owner with her husband Mike. The property also offered a permanent home for Bite Me Catering, Cher’s business.
The friendly, casual vibe (Cher attributes that to her staff) features a glowing cherry blossom tree at its center. Guests can mingle in and around a variety of chair and table settings or move things around to make it work for their group. Altitude 15 is a place to dig into a juicy burger, share a plate of tots, or experience craft cocktails. The airy, light-filled spaces open onto a large patio that includes a dedicated play area for your little ones.
The Hobbicks created Altitude 15 to be a cultural gathering hub. “We support non-profits. I like to extend a helping hand,” explains Cher. Since many of these places have neither a space nor the funds for their events, there are “Tuesday Takeovers.” Altitude 15 offers the space at no cost, and then arrangements are made for food, which can be simple to lavish depending on needs and budgets. Tuesdays are closed to the public and give the team the morning to scrub the kitchen.
Spaces within the building are flexible, making it superb for events of varying sizes. The patio has its own gated entrance to welcome party guests. Altitude 15 can also be a creative space to host other restauranteurs for pop-up food events. “We are entrepreneurs,” adds Char, which means she and Mike are continuously dreaming up ideas to better utilize the building and include more people.
Altitude 15 also has activities for everyone on other days like music bingo, happy hour, trivia, and weekend brunch. Bring your friends. No reservation is required. Check social media for all the particulars.
