It is easy to spot the iconic red vans of Flying Colors Painting Company driving around town. Owners Dustin and Carol Wilson have been conscientiously serving our community since 1980. Dustin jokes that after 45 years in the painting business, he has become proficient.
The Wilsons emphasize the importance of relationships, both with customers and employees. Dustin especially enjoys residential projects when he has the opportunity to get to know his clients. Flying Colors believes that painting is a personal experience that can feel intrusive when contractors are inside your home. The company makes it a priority to respect people’s space, time and needs. Every customer gets the promise of professional painting, clear communication, and a simple process. “We deliver on that promise by honoring our warranty, responding promptly to questions and concerns, and ensuring every step of the project is handled with care and transparency,” says Office Manager Anna Jones. Return customers and referrals are truly important.
Flying Colors cultivates its employees’ professionalism, craftsmanship and critical thinking, which are core qualities of a skilled painter and transferable to other work. Opportunities to advance are provided and encouraged. “We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with exceptional employees who take pride in their craft,” notes Dustin.
The Wilsons extend their impact into the community. Dustin is a Lacey Rotarian involved with the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Program. The club is associated with the Rotary Club of Gachie, located near Nairobi City in Kenya. WASH supports infrastructure such as water filters, rainwater harvesting systems, and handwashing stations to improve hygiene, health, and empower the community. This has been especially impactful for women and, consequently, the reduction of infant mortality.
The couple is active in their church. They have also worked with local groups including the Boys and Girls Club, the Olympia Free Clinic, the Olympia Union Gospel Mission Free Dental Clinic, the Lion’s Low Vision Resource Center and others.
“I’m supposed to retire because everyone retires at my age, but I enjoy the business and our customers. We really have great people,” says Dustin. Visit their website and chedule a free estimate today.
