Put down your forks! There is a new restaurant in town and it’s all about the view, tasty food and the experience. The much anticipated sleek and swanky new Oxbow Urban Restaurant is now open in Sumner. Chef Alex Anton says, “ We are really excited to welcome guests to our new restaurant!”
The restaurant is an inspired partnership between two long-time restaurant owners, pioneer Jim Anton and his grandson Alex Anton, and the owners of Toscanos Italian Grill in Puyallup. “The restaurant has been a dream for a long time,” enthused owner Jim Anton.
Executive Chef Alex Anton has deep roots in the local valley. Jim Anton says that he has been working in restaurants since he could see over the counter. “I remember as a child he would work with me side-by-side at Anton’s Restaurant in Sumner. He never got tired and was excited to work in the restaurant any time he could.”
The name “oxbow” means “the bend in the river” which was inspired by the pleasant views of the river that guests will enjoy from any spot on the floor at Oxbow. “On a clear day you will have a full view of Mount Rainier and the river,” said the Chef.
“One of delights of the new restaurant is an open exhibition kitchen which showcases the food being prepared and prepped by the team at Oxbow. Another beautiful experience is the built-in and full viewable pizza oven,” says Alex Anton. “We are thrilled to bring this experience to the community.”
“We are proud to offer top quality food and drinks, a warm and inviting atmosphere — all with great views of the river. As you can imagine, I’m most excited about the kitchen and the food. We will be intentional about sourcing our products locally,” shared Alex Anton. “We want to partner with our community in producing local food that is high quality.”
The energetic and easy-to-talk-to Chef says that, “We want this to be a place to celebrate but also a place to come and enjoy a cocktail and food while you hang out in an upscale location. We want to create a living room atmosphere for Pierce County. During the summer the outdoor patio will be open for guests to enjoy the outdoors and summer dining. It’s the best waterside dining in the area!”
To start, the restaurant will be open for dinner and will soon be adding happy hour. Follow Oxbow Urban Kitchen @oxbowsumner or visit them for reservations at 1005 Pacific Ave, Sumner. Please call for reservations at 253.881.5111 or visit Oxbow Urban Kitchen – Sumner, WA
