Mark your calendars for SavorFest Pacific Northwest 2025, an annual celebration of the region’s vibrant ethnic and culinary traditions, happening Sunday, July 20 from 12 PM – 5 PM at Mi Centro in Tacoma’s Historic Hilltop Neighborhood. The free, family-friendly outdoor festival is co presented by Caribbean Queens of WA and Mi Centro WA, and promises an unforgettable afternoon of culture, cuisine, music, and community spirit.
Now in its fifth year, SavorFest PNW brings together a rich tapestry of communities to showcase the artistry, food, and music that make the Pacific Northwest a uniquely flavorful place to live and gather. This year’s festival is expanding its reach thanks to a dynamic collaboration with the Caribbean Queens of WA, amplifying visibility for Caribbean performing ensembles and cultural vendors.
“We’re proud to continue building a platform where everyone feels welcome and represented,” said Chef Lydia Mendez, owner-operator of Little Miss Sweets NYC and longtime SavorFest organizer. “SavorFest is more than just a food festival — it’s a community celebration rooted in love, identity, and connection.”
The event will spotlight local BIPOC chefs, food vendors, artists, and performers, including DJ Tremenda Diosa, Brazilian martial artists from WA Capoeira Center, Puerto Rican bomba ensemble Hijos de Agüeybaná and fan favorites the PLU Alumni Steel Band. SavorFest PNW will also offer family-friendly features including appearances from popular animated movie characters and cooking demos from Chef Mary Cortez and Chef Susan Burbano for aspiring home chefs and culinary enthusiasts.
“This is about joy, cultural pride, and making space for everyone to shine,” said Maribel Galvan, Arts & Cultural Center Director at Mi Centro WA. “We’re honored to host this celebration on the Hilltop, a neighborhood with deep roots and rich histories that deserve to be uplifted.” “We’re grateful for the small but meaningful support we’ve received from the City of Tacoma’s Arts Commission and Special Events Fund,” added Julie Davidson, Director of Caribbean Queens. “With additional community support, we can ensure that local vendors — especially small, BIPOC-owned businesses — don’t bear the costs of participation and that this remains an accessible celebration for all.”
SavorFest PNW 2025 is free and open to the public. For those looking to get involved, volunteers, donations and sponsorships are still being accepted to support vendor subsidies, youth programming, and cultural demonstrations.
