Iconic Tacoma mainstay, the Lobster Shop reopened this past summer after a short closure for renovations— returning even better.
Located on Ruston Way and picturesque Commencement Bay since 1981, the updated space and enhanced menu remains a prime spot for PNW seafood, steaks, and views any time of year.
Transitioning to new ownership in 2021, veteran E3 Restaurant Group known for such Seattle favorites as the Metropolitan Grill, Elliot’s Oyster House, and formerly, Steamers, in Tacoma, had always envisioned honoring the location, and its history– by simply making it better.
With some modern finishes to the interior, a menu refresh that pays homage to many of its classic dishes, and amenities like free valet parking for guests, it’s an experience worth revisiting time and time again.
Pair always stunning views with wine by the glass, or bottle. The beautiful waterfront patio is open as weather permits and an excellent vantage point. However, there’s really not a bad seat in the house.
Choose from a carefully selected wine list featuring both regional and worldwide vintners. An extensive spirit and craft cocktail menu incorporates noteworthy Tacoma and Seattle beer makers, along with many from around the region.
Complimentary bread loaves with herbed dipping oil, and butter start things off with a flourish. Follow up with delicious appetizers like steamed Manila clams in white wine, garlic, sea beans, baby carrots, and parsley, or tried and true front-runners like the lobster bisque.
For dinner options that never disappoint, savor lobster ravioli with decadent lobster claw meat, cream sauce, guanciale, egg yolk, Parmesan, and black pepper.
Seasonal ‘fresh sheets’ present curated selections from local purveyors that are not only hyper-fresh, but sustainably focused.
Depending upon the time of year, and availability, try Copper River Salmon, a deliciously grilled Sockeye Salmon with shredded potato cake, charred broccolini, cherry compote, and champagne gastrique. Or Alaskan Sockeye Salmon, when in season.
Don’t forget to leave room for dessert. A distinctly delightful Bananas Foster Bomb combines the flavors of white chocolate mousse, and drizzled caramel sauce.
