Truck & Tractor Day, presented by the City of Lakewood, is a long-standing fall tradition at Fort Steilacoom Park. Held on October 11th from noon to 3 pm, this annual free, fun family event is filled with tons of fun for kids and parents alike.
According to Lani Neil, Recreation Coordinator for the City of Lakewood, “It’s a great way to enjoy the day outside in the fresh air at the park where parking is free and so are the kids’ activities, plus free pumpkins.”
Attendees can sit in the driver’s seat of dozens of trucks and tractors including a Tucci & Sons dump truck, garbage trucks from Lemay garbage service, John Deere tractors and an assortment of vehicles that are owned by the city. “All of them are there for kids to explore, plus you can talk to operators that drive them, “said Neil. She added, “There are great photo ops as well.”
Did we mention this event is really fun? Pumpkins are given to families to decorate at the event or to take home. There are free hayrides around Waughhop Lake and pumpkin chucking, using a giant slingshot aimed at a variety of targets out in the field. Other activities include a donut eating contest from House of Donuts. Kids are invited, without using their hands, to eat donuts hanging from a string.
Truck & Tractor Day hosts a large variety of popular food and dessert trucks on-site including Turger Burger, Tin Hut BBQ and House of Donuts.
