Legendary guitarist Dave Mason will bring his ‘Endangered Species Tour’ to Tacoma’s Rialto Theater on Saturday, September 9. The Tour celebrates 50 years of music and collaborations with artists like Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney. “I’m a ‘rare bird’, so to speak, sticking to the tour life and to music, and you’re invited to join me in 2023!”, Dave says. “No fireworks, no flashing lights, no go-go dancers, no special effects. Just great songs and a promise of a heartfilled performance.”
Dave was a founding member of Traffic, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Their single “Feelin’ Alright?”, written by Dave, has been covered by many artists. Dave’s solo career took off in the USA after leaving Traffic in 1969. He has penned over 100 songs, has 3 gold albums, and a platinum album “Let It Flow”, which contained the top-ten single “We Just Disagree”. “Yep, I sing all those songs that first hit the airwaves in the 60’s and 70’s”, says Dave. “And I’m still a strong believer in the magic of music. There aren’t old songs or new songs, in my mind at least, just GOOD songs.”
While a prolific artist in his own right, Dave has collaborated with an enviable list of music industry icons including Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Graham Nash, Rita Coolidge, and Eric Clapton, among others. Dave’s Washington State stop reconnects him with the origin one of his most acclaimed collaborators, Jimi Hendrix. On the album “Electric Lady”, he played acoustic guitar in the mega-hit “All Along the Watchtower ” – a favorite in Dave’s live shows! “At 76 years of age, I still love performing live concerts. I feel grateful for that, and to tell you the truth it surprises the hell out of me. I’ve been doing it for over 60 years and the love is still there”, Dave says.
Dave Mason, presented by Tacoma City Theaters, will perform with his band at Rialto Theater, 310 S 9th St Tacoma, on Saturday, September 9th at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at TacomaCityTheaters.org
